I have pretty much been given a classic car from my family unit. Information technology just arrived from Alaska. It has an Alaska Championship and is Registered in Alaska under my Mom's name. Patently I need to annals it in Florida and need to put Florida Insurance on it. Can I register the vehicle in my proper name with it having my Mom'due south name on the electric current title and registration? My name is on neither certificate. Information technology's still "her" automobile and so she does not desire to do a Beak of Sale so I can put the Title in my name.

She is not a resident here. And then if I register information technology in her name... I probably can't insure it, because I take no insurable interest in the auto.

Looks like she might need to sign over the championship. This could be fun....

Wondering if I can but get out information technology registered in Alaska, since that is where the owner lives and insure it with Florida insurance.

Maybe a call to the DMV is in club since this is an oddball situation?

You're suppose to get Fl. tags within 10 days (or something like that) of accepting a task or enrolling a kid. Don't know how heavily information technology's enforced, though.

You lot have a few options..

You can go a form from the State of Florida that you lot tin can fax to your female parent, it'due south basically a "power of attorney" form for y'all to annals the car for her, in her name, in Florida. If that's non an choice, yous'll have to have her sign off on the title. She won't take to say she sold information technology to you for money, she tin claim the machine was a "gift" which will exempt you from a large pct of the taxes.

Long term leased vehicles aren't owned....would the process for them exist the same or similar?
But,obviously, DMV would answer the question better than any of us accept
